What is Martha's Vineyard? An island - not a single city, like a certain midwesterner thought. Bike paths connect from place to place. We took the shuttle.
To me, part of sailing is shorelines, waves, wind, the sound of seagulls, hope of whale tails and awe inspiring sunsets. Martha's Vineyard did not disappoint.
Unique local shops, story book houses, and hideaway eating spots beckoned us to wander.
Our most intriguing find was the Martha's Vineyard Camp Meeting Association. Established in 1835, the campground grew out of the religious camp meeting movement of the 19th century. Meetings consisted of prayer and preaching, morning, noon and night. In the 1860's additional land was purchased and tents and cottages appeared. At one time there were over 500 cottages. Today 318 remain.
Looks like very nice place. Enjoy your time there.
