The Mackinac Bridge
We will be passing under the Mackinac Bridge in the next 30 minutes. It feels like a homecoming for me as I came to Mackinac Island many times as a child. By the time I was in my forties, my aunt Karen lived on the island with her husband. When he passed, I became her legal guardian and eventually had to move her off the island to an assisted living in Petoskey. I have many memories of Mackinac Island that have flooded me with fond memories of my aunt Karen.
Our grandparents took us, Doug and me, to Mackinac Island. It was enchanting with the horse drawn carriages and no cars. I loved the fudge there. I was hoping to sail this leg of the trip so i could return to the island. Thank you for the pictures and your memories
Sadly, we aren't able to go to the island. The marina is full so we are at the Mackinaw City Municipal Marina. I didn't take any of those photos.
Great photos, fond memories -- looks like a gorgeous day
