Windspeed 15-35kts
Yesterday was the ideal opportunity to practice and review our established procedures under a variety of conditions. Windspeed ranged from 15-35 kts. The boat performed well, and we verified our sail reefing guidelines.
We arrived in Kewaunee, Wisconsin about 5:30pm and were met at the seawall Augie Kinjerski, manager of the City of Kewaunee Marina and Campground. Due to the challenging wind conditions he came to assist with our docking. He even brought a friend with him. As per usual, Doug performed a magnificent docking and provided excellent pre and post briefings to the crew.

The Effects of Heeling
Heeling is when the sailboat leans over due to the forces of the wind against the sails. It makes some ordinary tasks a bit more difficult to perform as evidenced by a few videos.
Nathan at the helm. Watch the heeling of the boat and you will understand the way his standing position changes.
When was the last time you had to crawl to the refrigerator to keep from being thrown across the room? This was the third time I tried to retrieve a Diet Coke on my hands and knees.
Cooking while underway can be a challenge.
